Developmental Screening

The best person to track your child’s development is you! Complete a brief developmental screening questionnaire now to learn more about how your child learns, plays, and grows.

Completing a developmental screening can be both fun and educational. A screening can identify your child’s strengths or areas where your child may need encouragement or support, provide new activities to try with your child, and help you understand the skills your child may be learning at each new stage.

Help Me Grow North Texas offers two developmental questionnaires: Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3) and Ages and Stages Questionnaire: Social-Emotional (ASQ:SE-2), designed to help parents and caregivers follow and understand their child’s development.

These screening tools can help parents and caregivers discover their child’s strengths and uncover any opportunities for growth. You can use the results of the ASQ to help talk with pediatricians, child care providers, teachers, and other professionals.

The ASQ-3 assesses the five major areas of development: communication, gross motor, fine motor, problem solving, and personal-social.  This is available for children ages one month through 5 1/2 years.

The ASQ:SE-2 was developed to monitor a child’s behavioral development in areas such as self-regulation and interactions. This is available for children ages one month to 6 years.

It is highly recommended that you complete both questionnaires.

What does Help Me Grow do with your child’s ASQ results?

After the questionnaire is completed, a Family Navigator will promptly contact you to share your child’s results. Also, based on the results Help Me Grow staff may provide information and help you connect to community resources.

This is a FREE and CONFIDENTIAL service. Interpretation services are available.
